Students will begin this chapter with evaluating and writing algebraic expressions. We will focus on clue words to interpret our reading and writing. Next we will explore number lines and the concept of absolute value as we learn to add and subtract integers. Students will then proceed to the multiplication and division of integers. These skills will be utilized to find measures of central tendency for data. Finally, students will use powers and exponents and properties of numbers. The comprehension of the skills and concepts in Chapter 1 will be essential groundwork for what follows in our eighth grade studies.
